persistの意味と用例文
[動]主張し続ける、言い張る、固執する、存続する
☆ポイント☆しつこく固執し、継続して主張するという意味。「言い張る」「頑固にやり通す」「粘る」などの「続ける」といったニュアンスがある(maintainに近い)。
He persisted in his refusal to admit responsibility.

insistについては
to say firmly and often that something is true, especially when other people think it may not be true
(たとえ他の人が信じていなくても、自分は頑固として真実であると言う事)
との説明に「(反対されたとしても)強く主張する」という意味が分かります。
persistについては
to continue to do something, although this is difficult, or other people oppose it
(難易度が高かったり他の人が反対しているとしても何かをし続けること)
との説明に「主張し続ける」というニュアンスを汲み取ります。
また、
if something bad persists, it continues to exist or happen
(何か悪いことが存続する限り、それが存在したり起こったりする)
という「存続する」という説明もありました。
