periodは時間的な区切りを表しており、月、年、十年などを表すときに使用されます。

The modern period is generally considered to have begun in the late 15th century.
現代時代は一般的に15世紀後半に始まったと考えられている。
The Romantic period is known for its poetry and music.
ロマン派の時代は詩と音楽で知られている。

 

ageは歴史的な区切りを表しており、文化的および政治的な出来事の区切りに使用されます。
