☆ポイント☆実際に人が見たり触るたりすることが出来る物体という意味。例えば「障害物」など、◯◯物と表現する場合もある(UFOはunidentified flying objectの略) 。英語で言う目的語の意味もある。

objectについては
a solid thing that you can hold, touch, or see but that is not alive
(あなたが掴んだり触ったり見たりできて、かつ生物ではない固体のもの)
という説明です。
thingについては
an idea, action, feeling, or fact that someone thinks, does, says, or talks about, or that happens
(ある考えや行動、感情、誰かが考えたりしたり言ったり話したりする事実や、起きたこと)
an object that you are talking about without saying its name, or whose name you do not know
(あなたがそのものの名前を言わずに話す物体、またはその名前を知らない物)
と抽象的な説明ですが、幅広い意味があることが分かります。
